Randstad are recruiting for a Qualified Social Worker to join Lancashire County Council’s Duty and Assessment Team. This is a full time role, with a fantastic pay rate of 36 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to new referrals and undertake timely assessments in line with statutory guidelines (including S17 and S47 of the Children Act 1989).
  • Complete Child & Family Assessments to identify needs, risks, and necessary interventions.
  • Make threshold decisions and determine appropriate levels of support or escalation.
  • Carry out strategy discussions and joint visits with police or other professionals when required.
  • Initiate and lead Section 47 enquiries when there are safeguarding concerns.
  • Present cases to legal gateway for Public Law Outline (PLO) or Care Proceedings where necessary
  • Engage children and families in direct work to gain their views and ensure their voices are central to planning.
  • Work closely with schools, health professionals, early help, and other agencies to gather information and coordinate responses.
  • Prepare clear, analytical reports for Child Protection Conferences, Looked After Reviews, and court.
  • Use Signs of Safety framework to assess risk and safety, and inform planning.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all work on the case management system.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings, supervision, and reflective practice discussions.
  • Work flexibly and manage a fast-paced duty rota, balancing crisis work with ongoing assessments.

Requirements:

  • Social Work England registered
  • Social Work Degree or equivalent
  • Enhanced DBS
