We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Responsible Individual to oversee and ensure the highest standards of care at a Children’s Home specializing in supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties (EBD) in Lancashire. As the Responsible Individual, you will be accountable for the overall operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks, and ensuring that the home meets the best possible standards for the children and young people in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the children’s home complies with Ofsted regulations, Children’s Homes Regulations, and Care Standards Act. Be accountable for ensuring the home is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and maintains high standards of care.
- Leadership & Oversight: Provide oversight of the management of the home, working closely with the Registered Manager and the care team to deliver the highest quality care to children and young people with EBD.
- Strategy & Development: Support the development and implementation of the home’s strategy, ensuring that all processes and practices align with the goals of providing a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for children.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor the quality of care and ensure that outcomes for children and young people are positive, promoting emotional, physical, and educational development.
- Safeguarding & Risk Management: Oversee safeguarding procedures and ensure the home implements appropriate risk management strategies to protect the children and young people in our care.
- Staff Support & Development: Ensure that the staff team is supported and trained to deliver effective care and behavior management strategies for children and young people with EBD.
- Liaison with External Agencies: Work in collaboration with external agencies, social workers, families, and professionals to coordinate and ensure the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
- Reporting & Documentation: Ensure that all necessary documentation, reports, and assessments are accurately completed and submitted to the appropriate authorities.
Key Requirements:
- Experience: Significant experience in managing or overseeing children’s services, with expertise in working with young people with Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties (EBD).
- Qualifications: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential. NVQ Level 4 or 5 in Health and Social Care is also desirable.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Ofsted regulations, Children’s Homes Regulations, and safeguarding policies.
- Leadership & Responsibility: Strong leadership skills, with experience in providing strategic direction and oversight. Ability to make decisions with the children’s welfare and regulatory compliance in mind.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with internal staff, external agencies, and regulatory bodies.
