Wood is currently recruiting for Principal Process Engineers to support across a portfolio of high profile projects within our Systems Integration (SI) team in our Digital Consulting business.

This is a hybrid role that can be based at any of the following UK offices: Aberdeen, Staines, Reading, Glasgow or Northampton with the expectation of travel as required.

Please note applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team and support in developing and deploying best practice Process standards across a variety of critical EPCM and FEED projects within the Energy sector.

You will be responsible for development of process designs and driving resolution of complex technical issues. You will interface with a multi-disciplinary team of highly capable Engineers and Project Managers to deliver best in class solutions that will ensure high customer satisfaction.

This is ideal for an experienced Process engineer who wants to develop their career in a fast paced and challenging environment.

Responsibilities

The key objectives for this role are:

  1. Be a part of a key Engineering Functional delivery team, working across multiple industry wide organisations providing varying work fronts and challenging opportunities
  2. Be part of a new high performing engineering delivery organisation
  3. Deliver process designs in FEED and EPCM projects, identify issues and propose solutions
  4. Undertake process studies and process design work and check work on the project as appropriate
  5. Work closely with customers to understand their needs and produce designs and services to meet these needs
  6. Complete technical design work to a high standard using Wood’s and Customer design methods, standards and data
  7. Execute process engineering activities achieving budget, schedule and maintaining technical integrity of the designs
  8. Develop the basis of design, undertake detailed calculations to develop the design and be responsible for accuracy
  9. Ensure that detail design methods, standards and data used conform with Client’s requirements and / or those issued by Wood
  10. Prepare Process Flow Diagrams, Equipment specifications, Process Descriptions and P&IDs for review and approval
  11. Ensure a high standard of safety is achieved and Environmental and Quality Assurance procedures are followed
  12. Perform safety related calculations and provide input to Hazops, SIL and other safety reviews as directed
  13. Contribute where necessary to review of supplier quotations and reviews of the project 3D CAD model
  14. Ensure that requirements of Licensor’s Secrecy Agreements are known and complied within the work performed
  15. Participate in technical meetings and handle discussions with client engineers
  16. Assist as required in the preparation of Operating Manuals
  17. Be a role model for Wood’s behaviours; encouraging a collaborative, inclusive and supportive team that can have fun and enjoy the work we deliver

Expected:

  1. Drive and enthusiasm for the task at hand
  2. Chemical Engineering Degree
  3. Experience of working on FEED and EPC projects for energy transition and onshore oil & gas projects
  4. Proven core Process Engineering skills, including up-to-date design experience
  5. Skilled in resolution of technical process design issues
  6. Readily adaptable with excellent verbal and written communication skills and good organisational awareness
  7. Ability to respond to customer needs whilst achieving project and corporate objectives
  8. Display analytical and innovation skills to support management of new technology
  9. Previous experience working in a project delivery environment
  10. A sound understanding of engineering practices, methodologies and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, international codes and standards, procedures, and specifications
  11. Strong planning, organising and execution skills

Desirable:

  1. Previous experience of leading a team
  2. Chartered Chemical Engineer status
